Back in 1995, when Royal Roads was in its final year of being a military college, I was a civilian. One night that December, I was the victim of an impaired driver, multi-vehicle accident in downtown Victoria.
As circumstances would have it, a group of Royal Roads military students happened to be at the same intersection at the same time as the multi-vehicle accident. As per their training, the students took control of the situation, for example, traffic control, medical assistance to me, etc., until the civilian authorities arrived and took control of the situation.
Due to the injuries sustained by myself (and nearly three decades later) all the information I have is general - just that it was the Royal Roads military students who helped me.
The actions of these students from their military experience at the time will forever be a reminder of the city's proud military heritage.
